The Dr. Dynasaur Program is designed to provide health care for eligible pregnant women and to eligible children through age 17 in Vermont. Prenatal care is fully covered for pregnant women and dental and a range of medical services are available to children. In order to apply, one need only make a phone call and then apply by mail. The New England Program of Green Thumb serves Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. In one year they provided employment, training, and community service opportunities to over 26,000 older Americans. Green Thumb is a non-profit organization "committed to improving the quality of life of all Americans by using and developing the talents and skills of older individuals through training, employment and community service". The program is funded by a grant with the United States Department of Labor to run the Senior Community Service Employment Program. Some of the participants contributions to the community include tutoring students, teaching skilled trades and crafts, providing home health and day care, preparing and delivering meals for homebound persons, caring for the disabled, operating computers, etc! Participants must be 55 years old or over, be eligible to work in the U.S., and meet certain income guidelines. A Host-Agency trains and supervises the participant while Green Thumb pays their wages. The goal is for the participants to help maintain their independence and dignity by enjoying improved attitudes and health as a result of obtaining employment.

CVOEO Head Start reaches people in Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Addison counties using either a home-based, center-based, or combination program for preschool children and their families. The primary focus of Head Start is to encourage a child's self-help, social, and emotional skills with parents in the main role as a principle influence. The Head Start Program addresses issues of health, nutrition, other social services in the community, children with special needs, and parental involvement, including training, literacy, and substance use education for parents.

The 5-C Head Start Program holds family life education courses for families with infants, preschoolers, elementary and middle school age children and adolescents.

The State's Collaboration Project consists of creating Vermont's Early Childhood Work Group. Their goal is to provide every family in Vermont with comprehensive, high quality child development services appropriate to their children, for every VT community to nurture the healthy development of young children and strengthen families, and to support communities by creating a unified system for child development services which shares common standards for quality and respects the diversity and uniqueness of individuals and of programs.
Home Work - Central Vermont Community Action

Central Vermont Community Action's Home Work project is designed to move 105 Central Vermonters substantially toward economic self-sufficiency within three years. The Project will work 75 ANFC participants and 50 below poverty (non-ANFC) families through assessments, elf-employment and vocational training, and home-based businesses that will supply contracted products to home-based businesses will be established to provide peer support and will be built upon into a Home Work network. A Clearinghouse which works with all Northern Vermont businesses contracting demand and supply of products to monitor the relationships established between the partners. The lease/purchase financing program will be operated through a financial intermediary. We project that at the end of the three demonstrations, participants who began in the first year will be earning at least $7.50/hr. and be ineligible for most forms of public assistance. Vermont Community Action's Executive Director is Stephen Hedger and the Home Work Project Director is Mary Niebling; the agency is located in Barre.
