Vermont-Honduras Partnership Meeting Minutes

9-10-2003

6:30pm at UVM Bio-Research Center

 

Meeting attendees:  Bill Kelly, Fred Schmidt, Michele Cranwell, Meaghan Murphy, Thomas DeSisto, Lyn Carew, Dan Baker, Vicky Torsch, and Tom Plum.

 

6:30 – Bill Kelly called the meeting to order and provided the Board’s President Report

 

7:00 - Dan Baker provided the treasurer’s report (attached)

 

7:10 – Meaghan Murphy and Dan Baker provided a brief report from the August POA Conference in El Salvador.  This conference explored how to incorporate evaluation into future chapter projects.  POA Washington also asked all chapters to complete a brief evaluation report highlighting project successes for the reapplication of the Farmer-to-Farmer funding. 

 

7:30 – Meaghan Murphy and Thomas DeSisto reported on their Info-Rural trip to Honduras taken in August 2003.  On this trip Meaghan, Thomas and Matias Chiotas, CDAE Graduate Student, installed computers and provided training on computer applications for CCH. They evaluated their capacity of computer skills and materials and made recommendations for next steps.  These recommendations are attached to the minutes.  They presented their recommendations for the Info-Rural project and standards for sending computers down to Honduras.

 

8:00 – Michele Cranwell provided a brief update on the POA website.  Please submit a copy of all trip reports and press releases to her so she may keep the website updated.

 

8:15 – Snacks and informal networking.  The “Best Salsa” contest was held and both salsas won - a tie!

 

8:30 – Bill Kelly closed and adjourned this meeting.
