Education Projects

Special Education
The Honduras Vermont Partners have a long tradition of improving education for children with special needs; in fact, they were instrumental in the passage of a law in this area. Education specialist Michael Hock traveled in March 1998 to work on curriculum reform. This project has succeeded in mainstreaming many children into classrooms previously the domain of the "normal student body".

Girls Program
The Honduran girls program started in 1996. It channels resources from the U.S. toward gifted girls in Honduras for the purpose of retaining them in school through the 9th grade. The program, implemented through ANEDH, also involves training for teachers and special events for the students which improve their self-esteem and motivation to suceed in the future.

University of Vermont
University of Vermont students participate each year in a summer course which focuses on different topics such as Honduran art, architecture and history.
