Table XVII
Allocations to the State Planning Board
As this table (Chapter 22) shows, the bulk of the appropriations for planning were directed toward publicity. Legislative stipulations directed that most of the small amount of money and staff available was to be used for studies of flood control and water use. With these handicaps, overall planning did not excite public opinion. The State Planning Board was replaced by the Vermont Development Commission in 1945. Today this activity is administered under the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.
