Table VII
Per Capita Personal Income And
Per Capita Taxes in Vermont
Table VII and Table VIII are from Chapter 8 and were included to illustrate
that Vermont had experienced an increase in tax burdens in order to meet
gains in average income. Vermont had long been below the national average
in terms of the earning capacity of its citizens. As Table VIII shows,
in the seventeen-year period between 1937 and 1964, there was a phenomenal
increase in state and local taxes.
