Abstract from presentation at National Extension Service CRED Conference in Orlando, 2002:
"Electronic communication, specifically the internet and its associated technologies, is quickly becoming the new standard for the dissemination of municipal information. The next step is the provision of on-demand audio and video of public meetings. Streaming video can be a boon for citizens and government officials alike through the facilitation of information accessibility and efficiency, community linkages, professional meeting conduct, and political accountability. The technology, the infrastructure, and the demand all exist. The next issue to address is the necessary technical familiarity. This presentation will explain the concept of streaming video in municipal government, including examples, and facilitate a discussion of its benefits."
