EXERCISE FOUR
DELEGATE TO MOTIVATE
> Brainstorm the following:
1. What tasks need to be accomplished now or in the near future? By
when?
2. What does each entail?
3. Combine similar tasks, divide these into logical sets and give
each set a committee title.
4. On a sheet of newsprint, make a list of all active members. Then
make a list of all of the committees. After each committee place
the names of:
a) those who are most affected by the outcome
b) those who have the time, interest, etc. (you may exclude
those who already have major tasks unless you want to
start with a clean slate)
c) those who want to work on a particular committee. Check
your list of members to see who has little or no
responsibility
d) Get a commitment from those who will do the work
Part of this motivational effort is to develop leaders, therefore
committee reports should be a part of every regular agenda. This
will give potential leaders the experience of speaking before the
group. Caution must be exercised not to overdo a good thing.
Limit reports to one to two minutes and encourage handouts, or
reports might consume the entire meeting.
