                         Value of Groups


Answer each of the following questions drawing on your experiences
in volunteer or community groups.


1.  What do you feel is valuable about working in groups?







2.  What do you do well as a group leader/facilitator?







3.  What is a problem you have in leading a group?







4.  As a group member, what aspect of group work do you find
difficult?









> Instructions

In small groups, share and compare your answers with other team
members.  With the entire group, share your responses and start to
identify the elements of an effective group.  Among other responses
will be two key elements:

     þ    groups need to have a goal
     þ    groups work well when there is a willingness for everyone
          to participate

Plan to spend about 30 minutes on this exercise.
