GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTORS
> The role of presentor: When you present the NERL speak-out
Each NERL participant is asked to make a four-minute, self-
introduction to the entire group of NERL participants. This
activity is designed to increase the sense of community and also to
improve skill and self-confidence in the presentor role. The
"evaluation" is in the form of supportive comments and suggestions
from peers. Here are the guidelines:
Your assignment is to tell the audience some information about you.
1. You may want to address two questions:
þ Who am I?
þ What do I expect to get from the NERL Program?
2. Your presentation will be limited to a maximum of four
minutes.
3. Your presentation will be evaluated on:
þ content
þ delivery
þ use of sound equipment
4. Your presentation will be evaluated by your fellow
NERL'ers only.
5. Every NERL participant will have an opportunity to
"speak-out."
> Things to keep in mind
1. One purpose of this assignment is to help you learn more
about others. It will help you build a network of
resources.
2. It is also intended to help you feel more comfortable in
front of a large audience.
3. Your presentation will be evaluated by your fellow
NERL'ers, who will give the results directly to you. You
and only you will see the results of the evaluation.
4. Time your presentation ahead of time; four minutes goes
by very fast.
5. Arrange time signals with the introducer or meeting
manager.
6. Try to relax and enjoy the opportunity to share with
others some things about yourself.
