Questions & Concerns
When Will Data from the 2010 Census be Available?
- Population and housing unit counts for the entire state of Vermont will be available in February or March of 2011.
- Detailed tables that include data at the local level (town, city, village) will be available between June and August, 2011.

Why Did the Census Worker Ask my Neighbors About Me? OR
Why Did the Census Worker Ask Me About my Neighbors?
- Census workers need to get as much of the 2010 survey information as they can on each person.
- If you are not home, they may ask your neighbors about good times to reach you. Or they may ask you about your neighbors. They also ask local officials.
- If they can never get in touch with you, their only source of information may be your neighbors.
- This is the same procedure followed for vacant housing units.
I Have Already Done the Census! Why Am I Still Getting Visited?
- There are a few reasons why you may be getting visited or called, even if you think you have already been counted:
- The Census Bureau may have follow-up questions about your previous answers.
- There is a quality assurance operation going on that indepdently checks the accuracy of the Census counts by re-visiting a sample of US residents.
- There are many other Census Bureau surveys being done right now, like the American Community Survey and the Consumer Expenditure Survey.
- Click here for more information.
How Do I Identify a Census Worker?
- First ask to see their ID. All census workers carry official government badges marked with just their name;
they may also have a "U.S. Census Bureau" bag.
- Note that the census taker will never ask to enter your home.
- If you're still not certain about their identity, please call the Boston Regional Census Center
at 866-861-2010 to confirm they are employed by the Census Bureau.
- A Census worker may also try to call you on the phone.
